Online Registration Overview
Harvard College students register for the term using an electronic registration tool. The electronic tool is easy to use and should take only a few minutes to complete. During the registration process, students need to verify their name and their physical return to campus. Additionally, they are provided with informational documents such as Harvard College's Alcohol and Drug Policy, Substance Abuse Laws, and Voter Registration Forms. Students are also required to review and update their directory information. Students are given the option to register for MessageMe, Harvard University's emergency notification system. MessageMe allows the University to quickly distribute critical information to you during an emergency by sending alerts to your personal electronic device (cell phone, pda, smartphone, etc) through text messaging, voice, and/or email.
Online Registration Location
Students will be able to access the Registration tool by selecting the "Campus Resources" tab of the my.harvard.edu portal. Within this screen, they will see a block called 'Online Registration Tool'. There should be a Status line with a link to 'Register Online'. Once this link is selected, they will need to authenticate themselves using their HUID and PIN and will be presented with a welcome message for the new online registration tool.
The online registration process will require the student to certify their name and their physical return to campus. They will also need to verify that they have been provided with the following documents:
- Harvard College's Alcohol & Drug Policy and the Summary of Laws Relating to Alcohol & Controlled Substances.
- Memorandum from the Office of General Counsel regarding the Federal & State Substance Abuse Laws.
- Massachusetts Statute Prohibiting Firearms & Dangerous Weapons.
- Massachusetts Statute Prohibiting Hazing.
- Information on how to obtain U.S. Voter Registration forms
Once the student has completed this portion of the registration process, they will be brought to the FAS Directory Update screen where they will update their demographic information such as address, phone, and parent contact information.
Once the student has completed the registration process, they receive important reminders on course enrollment, the online communication packet and MessageMe. The student receives final confirmation upon completing the registration process and an email confirmation. Lastly, the Status line on the my.harvard.edu Online Registration Tool will indicate 'You are currently registered' when this process is complete.
Online Registration Hours
The registration tool will open to students on:
- Beginning Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. for all Harvard College students as they arrive on campus
The deadline for completing the online registration process will be:
- Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:59 pm for all continuing, returning, and visiting undergraduates to register on-line
